The Night Sea Journey

The night sea journey takes you back to your primordial self, not the heroic self that burns out and falls to judgement, but to your original self, yourself as a sea of possibility, your greater and deeper being. Night sea journey is a cosmic passage taken as a metaphor for our own dark nights, when we are trapped in a mood or by external circumstances and can do little but sit and wait for liberation. The darkness is natural, one of the life processes.--Thomas Moore

Welcome to The Night Sea Journey

WINDMILLS by Toad the Wet Sprocket is the theme song of this blog. The song mysteriously and soulfully appeared to me and allowed a spiritual presense to touch me in a way I will not ever forget. This quote connected to the song at the very same time....

"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."

- Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

I have been contemplating creating this blog for some time and recently decided to give it a go. For some reason I am a bit afraid of all of this. Anyway, I believe in the following quote, "Truth can only be expressed aesthetically--in story, picture, film, dance and music." This is a quote from "Dark Nights of the Soul" by Thomas Moore. The book is the last (and most profound) book that I read just before my wife of 22 years was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She died in December of 2008. She was an amazing person and I miss her terribly! She was a light, a kind, caring soul who loved doing things to help others. I admire her more today than ever. I guess this blog is my way of communicating my thoughts. It cannot replace Vicki but maybe it can give me an outlet!
